Wendy Holdener is out with an ankle injury

Wendy Holdener injured her ankle when she fell into the safety net on Tuesday. The woman from Schwyz will undergo surgery at the Hirslanden Clinic on Tuesday and will be out until further notice.

Wendy Holdener was injured during slalom training in Pozza di Fassa, Italy. When she fell into the net, she fractured her left ankle, as tests at the Hirslanden Clinic in Zurich revealed. The 30-year-old woman from Schwyz will undergo surgery on Tuesday, December 12th. She will then have to immobilize her left foot for around two months.

“After the immobilization phase at the end of February and beginning of March, we will decide whether Wendy Holdener will compete in racing again in the 2023/24 season,” says team doctor Walter O. Frey.

Holdener has two career slalom World Cup wins plus five in City Events, Team parallel (2) and Alpine Combined (2), both last season and this season has one podium, in Killington in the Slalom where she finished third behind Mikaela Shiffrin. Holdener also has five Olympic medals (1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 bronze).
