Seventeen year old Ryan Faber has started his second year of FIS racing in a positive fashion with 4th place at the Treble Cone FIS Slalom on 13 August. This was Faber’s best result place wise of his career to date. Faber scored a 50 point result last season in Leogang.
After the race, Faber explained Racer Ready “to It was a good racing at Treble Cone, NZ in some pretty challenging conditions. There were a lot of DNFs, so I was really happy to put two solid runs together for 4th in the first race,” adding “In the second race I was sitting 4th after the first run and wanted to push for the podium on run two, but unfortunately DNF’d. It was frustrating, but I’m happy with the speed I showed over the races and there’s plenty to build on. The skiing feels like it’s moving in the right direction and I’m looking forward to the next races.”
Faber is one of an exciting age group that are pushing the boundaries and showing there is life after the Rocket! Following a very successful career on the Children’s circuit, Faber is rising to the challenge that performances from Harrison Adkins are setting down in his year group.
Faber is down in New Zealand with the Ambition group and faber’s coach, Marc Telling, explained “after some successful training periods in Zermatt and here, slalom is really starting to come together.”
Also down in New Zealand with Ambition are Alice Bond and Tallulah Winter. Winter made hr FIS debut in the races at Treble Cone on 13 August finishing a creditable 10th just behind another GB racer, American based Victoria Benyik. Alice Bond is also down in New Zealand with the Ambition programme.
Bond competed in the Mount Hood ANC races but failed to finish the first run.
