It’s been a decade since a tragic avalanche claimed the lives of U.S. Ski Team athletes Bryce Astle and Ronnie Berlack – a tragedy that could have been avoided. Through the passion of Bryce and Ronnie's parents, BRASS Avalanche was formed. Today, the advocacy and education programs of BRASS Avalanche have increased avalanche awareness and have helped make snow safety a frequent topic among athletes and event organizers.
PROGRAM
Remembering our Sons
The mothers of Ronnie and Bryce explore how their grief was a catalyst for growing snow safety advocacy and education over the past decade.
What We've Learned
U.S. Ski Team stars Steven Nyman and Travis Ganong knew Bryce and Ronnie and shared the pain of their death. But they've also seen the positive changes in the last decade. They'll update their own lives in the snow today, as well as reflecting back on what BRASS Avalanche has done to raise awareness on the U.S. Ski Team.
Taking the BRASS Message Global
This season BRASS Avalanche has taken its message global through a partnership with Norwegian ski racing star Atle Lie McGrath. World Cup ski racer Jimmy Krupka, known for his popular Arc City podcast, catches up with McGrath to talk about his passion for snow safety, joined by educator Jordan Cargill.
Future of BRASS
Meet Sam Damon, the new executive director of BRASS Avalanche. Sam brings an extensive background in the sport as he takes the reins of BRASS Avalanche. He'll share that background and look forward to how BRASS can continue to build advocacy for snow safety in the years to come.
Sophie Goldschmidt, CEO of US Ski and Snowboard will deliver a note on the importance of snow safety education and BRASS.
