Zak Carrick-Smith edged out his twin brother Freddy as the two brothers finished 4th and 5th in the prestigious Folgaria Childrens U16 Slalom. Widely regarded as the Children's World Championship, many World Cup race winners have won the races in the past.
Freddy posted the second fastest time on the first run but was unable to hold on for his podium position as her slipped down to fifth. First run leader, France's Zerf Georges also dropped down, finishing second as Italian Alex Silbernagl took the racer win. Switzerland took the bronze with Mathieu Glassey.
Emma Carrick-Anderson explained: "Boys went 32 and 58 and were 4 and 5 after 1st run. Zak skied solid, Fred went full tank amazingly but had a big mistake. Hope they get better draws tomorrow."
Lewis Parton, who started out at the Telford slope before heading to Ambition and now is at Apex 2100, placed 27th.
In the girls race Emily Turner placed 16th, Katie Saunders 20th and Tabitha Milkins 28th.
In the under 14 Girls Giant Slalom, Amelia Pietrzak placed 11th in the one run race, Louisa Macintosh was 21st.
The boys race saw another fantastic British result as Ryan Faber placed 8th. Harrison Adkins placed 31st.
The British team coaches were full of praise for both Pietrzak and Faber after their exceptional results.
The results from all the racers have meant that the British team is now sitting in 6th overall in the team event. With another race to go on Saturday, the coaching team are hopeful that the British team can battle its way up into the top 5 nations overall.
