A new higher start for the Giant slalom gave racers something more to think about for the Welsh Championship Giant Slalom. Edouard Guigonnet back up his performance in the Slalom to produce the best result by a Welsh racer in the Championships as he finished in 12th palace overall. For Ritchie, who also started to get it all together in the slalom, the Giant slalom saw her finish in 16th place as the best British racer in the Women's race. Sue Fuchs won the Women's race and Fabien Spring took the race win in the Men's race.
The longer course with the steep sections, rollers and flats gave for some interesting racing. For Guigonnet, a sub 60 point GS racer, scoring a 78 point result was not of use in terms of the bigger picture of scoring points but this was about creating a presence to the watching Welsh ski racing fans and getting his name known. He will score better results and ski worse such is the nature of ski racing!
David Christey took 21st with Max Pini in 27th as the top three British racers. For Pini, just starting out on his FIS ski racing career, this was a career to date best result in Giant Slalom.
In the Women's race, behind Ritchie were Katie Stuart, Giselle Gorringe and Shannon Potter in 21st to 23rd place respectively.
