FIS and ÖSV conclude a long-term agreement

A seven-year license agreement on international media rights guarantees global visibility and planning security for Austria's World Cup events.

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) and the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) have concluded a groundbreaking agreement that will shape the future of broadcasting snow sports events. From the 2027/28 season, the FIS will be responsible for the international media and broadcast rights for the FIS World Cup events in Austria on all platforms. The rights are distributed by Infront on all platforms as part of the existing exclusive agency agreement with the FIS for the exploitation of the international media rights to the FIS World Cup events. The agreement between FIS and ÖSV runs for seven seasons up to and including 2033/34.

This long-term partnership underlines the shared commitment of FIS and ÖSV and marks an important milestone in the global development of snow sports. The integration of the international broadcast rights for the Austrian World Cup competitions opens up new opportunities to present snow sports to a broad, international audience. At the same time, the agreement creates planning security for the organizers and guarantees global visibility of the events.

Reaction:

Johan Eliasch (FIS President): "This agreement completes the centralization of international media and broadcast rights - a significant step towards the future of our sport. By bringing international rights under a common umbrella, we can deliver a more consistent and innovative product designed for the digital age. This will increase visibility, attract more investment and create new opportunities for our athletes, our Create disciplines and our sport. This is how we reach new target groups, inspire the next generation of fans and strengthen our global position.”

Christian Scherer (General Secretary/CEO of the ÖSV): "We are pleased about this agreement and the future collaboration. In intensive and constructive discussions at eye level, we were able to reach a tailor-made solution that does justice to Austria's special importance in international skiing. It is particularly important to us that the flagship events - including the World Cup opener in Sölden, the legendary Hahnenkamm races in Kitzbühel, the night races in Schladming and Flachau, the Austrian stages of the traditional Four Hills Tournament, the Nordic Combined Triple and many others – will continue to be presented internationally in the future and thus delight an even larger global audience. The ÖSV and its organizers will continue to do everything they can to further optimize the numerous events in the FIS World Cup series and to raise their quality to an even higher level to lift.”

Bruno Marty (Senior Vice President ProSports at Infront): "The ÖSV races are among the most watched and important events in the FIS World Cup, and this agreement allows us to make their fascination accessible to a global audience. Together with the ÖSV, all other national ski associations and the FIS, we will focus on the reach, reliability and sustainable growth of the Put sports. Our collaboration will ensure these iconic races receive maximum attention and value. We are very pleased to be able to offer all media rights for the FIS World Cup from a single source for the first time.”
