“It was not an encouraging first run,” explained Ted Ligety after placing second in the Alta Badia World Cup Giant Slalom. Ligety produced a supreme second run to recover some of the damage from his first run that saw him in an unaccustomed seventh place. With Alexis Pinturault finishing fourth just a second behind his French teammate, Thomas Fanara, this was a race that had the crowd enthralled.
