Runners up spots for British racers in second day of racing in Chile

Lois Jackson and Leo Karavisili took the runners up spots in the second day of racing at the El Colorado Giant Slalom races. Ireland’s Elle Murphy took third in the girls race.

Despite the second of the two Giant Slalom races in El Colorado being run by the Chile Ski Federation, British success continued. Honor Clissold came out on the second run but Lois Jackson stepped up to take her first FIS podium despite four of the top fifteen seeds not making the finish. Jackson will be hoping that the better seed point racers can finish in the top ten in future races to help lower the penalty in the races.

In the Men’s race, Leo Karavisili backed up his stunning 41 point result in the second race the day before, with a 44 point result, a career second best result. Karavisili made a name for himself at the English Championships last season in Bormio and since then has been working hard and building on this. Giant Slalom is one of the hardest disciplines to score a strong result in and these results will move him up the rankings. Hopefully he will be able to build on these in Europe over the winter as well. Fastest on the second run was a great achievement.

There was further success in the race for the British racers as Jack Cunningham took tenth overall.

The team now takes a break before getting back to training.
