Svindal triumphs in one of most exciting races of recent times

Aksel Lund Svindal produced a performance he described as "not perfect” yet when he came through the finish line to be 1.38 ahead of the next racer, this was a performance that had those watching gushing in admiration. With his team mate and great friend, Kjetil Jansrud in second, 0.68 behind him and Max Franz in third (0.85 back), this was a race that will live long and hard in the memories of those lucky enough to have seen it. Normally with the racers after the top twenty seeds down, the attention starts to wane but Gilles Roulin, Christof Innerhofer and Romed Baumann (finishers four to six) provided the reason for the attention to be kept. Perfect racing conditions on the Saslong were rewarded with one of the best races of recent times.
