British sporting ‘ROCK Stars’ add to buzz surrounding Therapy Expo 2013 in Manchester

The organisers of Therapy Expo 2013 (www.therapyexpo.co.uk) are pleased to announce that a trio of recognisable faces from the sporting world will be appearing at next month's inaugural therapy exhibition in Manchester, which promises delegates a host of personal development opportunities plus unrivalled access to industry experts.

British number one ski-cross athlete Emily Sarsfield, and mixed martial arts competitor Rosi Sexton are set to be at the Expo on Friday 13th September, with triathlete Seb Navarro due to attend on Saturday 14th September. All three will be appearing alongside Rocktape UK - one of more than 75 companies exhibiting at the two-day event.

Therapy Expo 2013 is a dedicated therapy trade event for clinic therapists and independent practitioners, will take place at Manchester Central on 13th and 14th September 2013. Designed to be a comprehensive experience for delegates including Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Sports Therapists, Bowen therapists, Occupational Therapists, Massage Therapists and Clinic Managers, the event will provide a first-rate opportunity for professional development and industry wide networking.

Emily Sarsfield, who is due to compete in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Russia, had to miss the last Winter Olympics in 2010 after rupturing her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). Her rehab post-surgery involved the Rocktape team and their taping strategies, and led to the athlete becoming one of Rocktape's team of 'ROCK Stars', having been involved since the company launched in the UK in 2011. As a qualified 'ROCK Doc', Emily will be on hand at Therapy Expo 2013 on the afternoon of Friday 13th September to speak with visitors to the Rocktape stand about how the product has helped her post-ACL surgery, how training for Sochi is going and for autograph opportunities too.

Rocktape provides 30-year-old Emily with products and support when she is in the UK. Emily's medical team have also attended their Rocktape courses to ensure she is able to train at her optimum. Emily says: “Rocktape has been fantastic for me, from when I first saw instructor and physio Barry during my post-ACL surgery to work through how to get me firing with my rehab, to managing my swelling post-crash! My GB Rocktape will be with me in Sochi for sure!”

Joining Emily on Rocktape's stand at the expo on Friday 13th September will be Rosi Sexton, the mixed martial arts competitor who competed in her first fight for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) back in June. In addition to her in-ring success, Rosi is also a trained Osteopath who uses taping to assist her performance in high level sport, treating clients with tape as a 'Rock Doc' and 'ROCK Star'. Rosi will be on the stand all day answering questions about her career thus far, signing autographs and talking about her association with Rocktape.

Long course triathlete Seb Navarro, who is also a personal trainer, will be in attendance on the Expo's second day demonstrating both triathlon and cycling-specific tape applications, and speaks highly of how Rocktape has assisted his performance: "Rocktape has been a source of security for me in providing support, stability and performance improvements to allow me to push harder, faster and keep going longer in my sport.  As a triathlete I need to stay strong when everyone else is fatiguing, with my races lasting over eight hours.  Rocktape helps me to achieve this”.

Simon Bunyard, Rocktape's UK Director, says: “Rocktape UK are proud to support and work with 'ROCK Stars' Rosi Sexton, Emily Sarsfield and Seb Navarro. They all have many years ahead of them in their respective sports, and we are sure that they will continue to be very successful”.

Therapy Expo's vibrant forum of speakers, suppliers and therapists promises to be the first of its kind; an event created by a healthcare professional for healthcare professionals.

Lisa Plummer, Physiotherapist, previously director of Therapy Advertising and event director of Therapy Expo 2013, is looking forward to opening the doors to delegates: “We have had a great amount of interest for the Expo ever since we made the initial announcement earlier this year, and the line-up keeps getting stronger. I'm delighted that Emily Sarsfield, Rosi Sexton and Seb Navarro will be in attendance as we celebrate the very best that the therapy industry has to offer. Both athletes are tremendous British success stories, and their journeys to their current positions in their respective sports is proof of the important role that therapists play”.
