Team GB confirms bobsleigh and skeleton athletes selected for Milano Cortina 2026

In skeleton, reigning World Champion Matt Weston has been selected for his second Olympic Games alongside world number three Marcus Wyatt, while Amelia Coltman, Tabby Stoecker and Freya Tarbit will each make their Olympic debuts.

Last week, Weston became the first British man to win three overall World Cup titles, following his consecutive World Championship golds, while fellow Olympian Wyatt added overall World Cup bronze to his World Championship silver.

Stoecker, Coltman and Tarbit each added World Cup gold medals to their accolades this Olympic cycle, with their selection placing Team GB alongside Germany as the only other nation to have three female athletes represented in the 25-strong field in Cortina. Each also played their part in helping Britain take the first-ever mixed team Overall World Cup title alongside Wyatt this season. The mixed event will make its Olympic debut in Cortina, with Team GB’s athletes to be confirmed after the conclusion of the individual races.

In bobsleigh, Brad Hall has been selected for his third Olympic Games and will pilot the two-man and four-man squads. The 35-year-hold is the most successful men’s World Cup pilot in British history, having collected no fewer than 30 race medals on the sport’s top circuit. He will be joined in both events by Taylor Lawrence, who has 25 World Cup medals to his name and with whom Hall won World Cup bronze in St Moritz earlier this month. Greg Cackett and Leon Greenwood complete the four-man squad, with Alex Cartagena named as the travelling reserve. Despite a season challenged by injury, the squad’s final World Cup races ahead of the Games saw them secure fourth in the overall four-man standings and sixth in the two-man.

Pilot Adelé Nicoll, who was the travelling reserve at Beijing 2022, will compete in both the monobob and two-woman events. Between successful bobsleigh seasons, 2025 also saw Nicoll claim her third British shot put title. She is joined in the two-woman by Ashleigh Nelson, who made her international debut in the sport just last year. Nelson’s switch to bobsleigh came after an athletics career which saw her travel to the Beijing 2008 and Tokyo 2020 summer Olympic Games as part of Team GB. Kya Placide completes the women’s squad as the travelling reserve.

Matt Weston said: “I couldn’t really have wished for too much of a better season going into the Olympics. I’m obviously picking up on the things I need to improve because I’m a perfectionist, but I’m pleased with how the year has gone for me personally and for us as a team, especially after my injury in the summer. We missed out on having fans on the ground for Beijing so there’s an added sense of excitement this time around and I’m really excited to have friends and family out there with me.”

Tabby Stoecker said: “Getting selected for my first Olympic Games is a dream come true! I feel so incredibly proud of my journey up to this point and I can’t wait to represent my country in Cortina,”

Brad Hall said: “I’m excited to go to my third Olympic Games. The track in Cortina is looking good and we’re looking forward to getting out there. You need a good mix of start speed and driving ability in Cortina and we know that we have the right skills to do well there if we can be consistent over all four runs. We’ve been disrupted by injury this season but we’re building nicely and ended the World Cup campaign with some good results, so we’re excited to get out there and really challenge for a medal.”

Adelé Nicoll said: “I can’t express how proud I feel to be representing Team GB and Wales on the biggest stage possible. Competing at an Olympic Games is something I dreamt of as a child and my family have always supported me and encouraged me to chase that dream. Things like this didn’t really seem possible growing up but my family made me believe that there were no limitations to what you could achieve. It’s crazy to think that it’s been 20 years since I wrote on a piece of paper in primary school that I wanted to be an Olympic athlete one day!”

Natalie Dunman, Team GB team leader for bobsleigh and skeleton at Milano Cortina 2026, said: “We head to Cortina after a really positive Olympic Cycle in which both sports have won multiple World Championship and World Cup medals. The squad have demonstrated their strength in depth, with those medals shared across both bobsleigh and skeleton and across the men’s and women’s teams, and the athletes have regularly shown that they can compete with the best in the world.

“We believe we have a solid platform for success in Italy but we know that repeating those performances on the Olympic stage will require a huge effort from all the athletes and staff. We are quietly confident that we can do the country proud but we certainly won’t be taking anything for granted and we know that we will have to be at our very best if we are to achieve our aims next month.”

Eve Muirhead, Chef de Mission for Team GB at Milano Cortina, said: “I’m incredibly proud to announce the bobsleigh and skeleton athletes selected to represent Team GB at the Olympic Winter Games. Following a series of world class performances throughout the 2025/26 World Cup season, our sliding athletes head into Milano Cortina full of confidence, and we look forward to seeing them take to the track in Cortina.”
