Corinne Suter and Michelle Gisin are undergoing medical evaluation
Neil McQuoid
31 January 2024
Corinne Suter and Michelle Gisin were injured during the descent in Cortina d'Ampezzo today. In the upper part of the descent, Corinne Suter landed roughly after a jump and then complained of severe knee pain. The 29-year-old athlete was flown back to Switzerland for medical examinations.
After a jump in the upper part of the descent, the speed specialist complained of severe knee pain. The examinations at the Hirslanden Clinic in Zurich revealed a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament and an injury to the internal meniscus in the left knee.
“Corinne will be operated on tomorrow morning at the Hirslanden Clinic. If the healing progresses as planned, she will be able to return to racing as normal next winter,” said team doctor Walter O. Frey.
Michelle Gisin fell after a jump when landing, but she was able to reach the finish independently. However, the all-rounder feels pain in her right lower leg and is undergoing medical examination on site. For this reason, Michelle Gisin has decided not to compete in Cortina d'Ampezzo this weekend.
