The 30-year-old giant slalom specialist injured her left ankle in a training fall in Pozza di Fassa, Italy, on December 15, 2023. Simone Wild suffered a tear in the anterior syndesmotic ligament. Fortunately, an operation is not necessary, but a break from skiing for several weeks is unavoidable.
“A healing time of 4 to 6 weeks must be expected,” says team doctor Dr. Walter O. Frey from the Hirslanden Clinic. “We will try to optimize the rehabilitation period so that Simone can get back into racing this season.”
"It's definitely not the Christmas present I wanted," said Simone Wild. "But I'm trying to make the best of it, see how I feel from day to day and get back on skis as quickly as possible."
