Gstrein and Feller lead in Adelboden

What a race the first run turned into. Manuel Feller and Fabian Gstrein are tied at the top of the leaderboard with Luca Aerni in third, just 0.05 behind. the top five are completed by Henrik Kristoffersen and Alexis Pinturault. Britain's Dave Ryding is in 13th.

Conditions were definitely wintery on the first run and when both Sebastian Foss-Solevaag and Clement Noel crashed out from bibs 1 and 3, there was certainly a feeling of something in the air.

The top seven finishers on the first run are just 0.17 apart and with the top 30 separated by just 1.37, this was a super exciting first run.

Snow started falling and then the sun came out and this gave the racers starting outside the first thirty with a huge opportunity to make a great result. 11 racers from outside the thirty made it into the top thirty, David Ketterer from bib 57 was the highest qualifier.

The work put into the course by the course crew was fantastic and this certainly played a part in so many of the later runners making it into the second run.

With both the joint holders of the Red Bib, Foss-Solevaag and Kristoffer Jakobsen, at an almost identical place near the finish, the race for the Globe has opened up.

Ryding mouthed 'that will do' as he came down into the finish 0.58 off the lead. While he dropped to 10th overall, the earlier start will benefit him with a. cleaner course.

Billy Major was just 0.21 off making the second run but the effort of two cancelled races in Zagreb followed by travelling to Berchtesgaden, two high quality races and then to Adelboden took its toll as he was slightly too round through the verticale approaching the finish and this cost him the chance to make the second run. He finished in 35th. Laurie Taylor was challenging for a second run but crashed out near the bottom.
