Double Super G day to round off the Anglo Scottish Champs

The final day of the British Ski Academy organised Anglo Scottish Championships was a two race affair! Two races of Super G! With few speed races on the British calendar a few years ago, the speed event is fast filling up the programme. While there may be a reticence of some administrators for there to be speed races, there is no doubt that the young racers enjoy it and it helps them get used to speed for the Giant Slalom!

Emily Turner took both race wins in the Under 16 girls races. The margin of victory over Molly Butler was consistent - 0.20 in the first race and then 0.19 in the second! Tabitha Milkins took third in the first race and then Maisie Blyth took third in the second race. The two had swapped positions in the two races! Holly Tutt took fifth in both races.

Tia Freshwater was first in the first race but was edged out by Ourania Ntouskou from Greece in the second race. Brooke Baxter and Grace Cameron took third on the first and second races respectively with Catherine Murray third British girl home in the second race.

Emerson Proctor took the race win in the first of the Under 16 boys Super G races with William Freear second and Milan greener from Argentina third. Lewis Mckey and Kerr Baxter finished fourth and fifth overall with Alasdair MacDonald sixth (5th British in the first race).

It was all change in the second race as Freear took the race win ahead of Dante Adam Vidri and Harry Duncan. The top five were rounded out by Proctor and Lewis McKey.

The under 14 races saw Hamish Blyth storm down the course to take third place overall in the first race and Oliver Martin second and Felix Braxton in third. In race two Blyth was again in good form but this tine took 5th with Oliver Martin in 12th and Matthew Butler 13th overall and on the Under 14 podium.

Lorcan Morrison won the Under 12 boys race (best time from two runs) ahead of Rufus Wontner and Jasper Freshwater. In the Under 10 boys race, the win went to Cillian Morrison ahead of Joshua Taylor and Connor Grant.

Lily Flitton took the Under 12 girls race win ahead of Darcy Davies and Isla Cameron while Christina Dagne rounded out a successful three days of racing with a third win. Phoebe Harris took second with Sofia Philip in third.

Congratulations to all the race winners but more importantly to the organisers for putting on another great set of races. These are trying times and the races happened. Heres to many more races happening this winter! In the words of the TD, Shell Quaile: "Thats a wrap on an epically cold three days in Pila for there Anglo Scottish races. Through masks, tight timings, exams, lack of staff we delivered 4 amazing races! Well done everyone!"
