When you have the opportunity to race a course twice and your best time will count towards where you finish, this gives the racer a great opportunity to really get into the race. This is what Mini racing is all about and it was with this in mind that Harriet Scoular took the Under 12 girls title ahead of Kitty Jay Caldwell and Alice Beveridge with Alice Bond and Madeleine Welsh rounding out the top five.
Having won the day before, Caldwell was going for the double but after taking a detour on the first run, she really had to post a good time on run two. Scoular went two after Caldwell on the second run and knew that Caldwell had gone faster than what she had posted on run one. It was an all or bust go and she edged ahead of Caldwell by 0.04 to take the title. Beveridge was another to ski out on the first run and she finished 0.08 shy of Caldwell. Bond and Welsh finished just two and three tenths behind. Lowri Howie finished sixth to take the Under 10 prize.
Isaac Ellison was the class act in the boys race as he comfortably posted the fastest time on both runs to win ahead of Jasper Blackwell and Finlay Royle. Both Ellison and Blackwell will be back again next year to battle it out while Royle will head to the big gates. William Mitchell and John Speed rounded out the top five with Lorcan Morrison taking the fastest Under 10 prize in seventh place overall.
