Carson demonstrates what is required to win on the Indoor scene at the Anglo Welsh

Sam Carson is not one to sing from the top of the trees, he is more content to let his skiing do the talking. Fastest on both runs, Carson took the Anglo Welsh title for the first time after being second last year. Brandon Matthews continued his fine return to form after time out of the sport due to illness in taking second place and pushing Carson hard on the second run as the PPS Club took the top two places. Robbie Anderson took third place with Jamie Alldridge in fourth and Ross Nesbitt fifth, fresh from achieving immense exam results after spending time in a coma last winter.

Carson took the lead after the first run, leading by just under two tenths from Toby Case with Jamie Alldridge in third, leading a group of four racers all within six hundredths of each other, Matthews being at the tail of the group.

With the race heading to the business end, Alex Davies had the lead but this was soon grabbed off him by Matthews as he went six tenths faster to take a firm grip on the race. Anderson was next down and while he was half a second slower than Matthews it was good enough to hold on to second at the moment.

Thomas Upton was next down but a huge mistake saw his challenge evaporate while Alldridge, next down, was unable to match the times set by Matthews and Anderson but still was able to go into third place.

This left two of the exciting racers from the British Ski Academy sponsored GBR Series left at the start from the top thirty racers from the first run. First it was Toby Case and then Sam Carson.

Case is an all out racer. The Excel trained racer puts his all into his runs and lives on the edge as he goes for the win. Case won the Overall title, indoor and outdoor this season but that is in the past and he wanted to take the Anglo Welsh title. A mistake cost him dear and his challenge went the same way as Upton.

It was now either Matthews, safe in the finish, or Carson, in the start gate, for the win. In the Indoor GBR Series, Carson had won two rounds and is a strong powerful racer. Guilty maybe of not believing in himself at times, Carson never the less is a strong fast racer at this level and put in a safe run to extend his lead over Matthews to take his third win of the Indoor summer season.

The age groups were won by Kieran Woolley (Under 14, 17th Overall), Robbie Anderson (Under 16, 3rd Overall), Ross Nesbitt (Under 18, 5th Overall), Sam Carson (Under 21, Race Winner), Adam Kent (Senior, 21st Overall) and James Alldridge (Masters, 4th Overall).

Lewis Parton took the race win in the Under 12 age group with Ryan Faber taking the Under 10 race win.
