There is class and there is class. Dave Ryding has it in abundance and produced a master class for the rest of the field to learn from as he won his ninth British Slalom title. Ryding has made the rest of the British men want to emulate his achievements and having seen Zak Vinter score an 8 point result last summer, Laurie Taylor went better and scored a 6 point result in the days leading up to the Delancey Championships and if ever there was a race that coaches, racers and ski racing fans were waiting for in anticipation, the Men’s Slalom was that race. Vinter produced a stunning performance to take second in the race for the British title (sixth overall) and Billy Major placed third (13th overall) just ahead of Iain Innes to see the two share the Men’s Overall and the Victor Ludorum for the most successful athlete, male or female at the Championships.
