Shiffrin strikes a broken gate but still wins Maribor slalom

Mikaela Shiffrin of the USA produced a remarkable run to beat Switzerland’s Wendy Holdener by 0.19 seconds, with Frida Hansdotter of Sweden third. Shiffrin snapped a slalom gate and then ran it over during her run. The incident looked to have cost Shiffrin the win near the bottom of the course but she pulled back to time to take the victory in Maribor, Slovenia.
