Ski & Snowboard Cross Pathway growing at formidable rate

Only just launched this summer, The Mitsubishi UK British Ski & Snowboard Cross (GBX) trials have attracted record numbers of attendance throughout the UK - and the trials are only half way through.

The trials are being run by Snowsport Scotland, Snowsport Wales and Snowsport England, and feature Mitsubishi Motors in the UK as headline partner. The latest trials at The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead, last weekend saw record attendance with the event at full capacity.

Incredibly, with only half the trials run to date, the SBX pathway has increased by over 30 athletes and the SX pathway by over 35 athletes.

Zoe Gillings-Brier, Olympic GBX athlete and event organiser commented: “To date the trials have surpassed all our expectations, we are getting a real sense of community within GBX that we havent seen before.  We have been really taken back, though, by the high level of ski cross athletes who have been selected and especially the numbers of Alpine athletes making the transition to ski cross.”

Commenting on the unprecedented attendance, Zoe commented, "Not only do I want to thank Mitsubishi Motors in the UK as headline partner, the four venues - Snow Factor, Braehead, The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead, Norfolk snowsports Club and SnoZone, Castleford; but also our partners - Three UK, Sealy, Nexsan, UK Fuels, NUtrition X, Dare2B, Defibshop, Cross Snowsport and Ski Team 4 - who have tirelessly supported the event and pushed the dates out."

The Mitsubishi Motors UK GBX National trials are taking place throughout the UK this summer and the next event is taking place at SnoZone, Leeds on saturday 25th June. All ski & snowboard athletes wishing to try out for the squads can book on the selections here:- www.GBXsquad.com
