The permutations of who would take what had an extra thirty minutes to be discussed in the finish before the final World Cup Downhill of the season. Fresh snow covered the course and while a thirty minute delay was all that was needed before the racing could start, this was the final Downhill race of the season. A season that had seen a triumphant return after a season out for Aksel Lund Svindal; a super impressive return for Beat Feuz and rather more cautious return for Erik Guay. It was also a season that saw far too many racers injured, including the Olympic Champion Matthias Mayer and that man Svindal again.
