Even the second day of time trial sees a brilliant Italy on the Olympia of the Tofane, the iconic alpine ski world track that in this weekend will host the 2025 edition of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, the event of the Women's World Cup proposed by Fondazione Cortina and important test in view of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.
The best two chronometric results are both of Italian athletes, in order Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone. The star skier, yesterday author of the second place, today has been the fastest and has preceded with 68 hundredths the teammate that the day before had registered the best time. Just a hundredth behind Brignone, the Swiss Lara Gut-Berhami.
The other Italian team members are a little further away than Yesterday, Elena Curtoni 17th (+1''79), Nadia Delago 20th (+1''88), Nicol Delago 22nd (+2''01). Race test in absolute control for one the most awaited athletes of the Olympia, the American Lindsey Vonn (twelve times winner in Cortina, between 2008 and 2018), in 40th position.
“Both the training sessions were good, very solid, where I tried my best. I’m surprised about finding myself a lot “in the air” but that’s alright" affirms a satisfied Sofia Goggia about her second time trial. "Olympic games? Of course, it’s a stage of the Ski World Cup that prepares us for 2026, but now I don’t think about it and I go ahead day by day".
"Compared to yesterday I was more focused on the central part, the Delta’s one, and I’m happy about how it went, while in the final section I was stricter, jumping a bit everywhere” says Federica Brignone. “The snow seemed colder than yesterday and I felt less at ease. For tomorrow’s race I have to put all the pieces together and to try my best."
Tomorrow, Saturday 18th of January, it’s downhill day. The first athlete will start at 11 a.m.
