In the post race interviews Marcel Hirscher, winner of the Giant Slalom World Cup last season, explained when asked why Ligety had won this year by saying that he "had done his homework." Ligety admitted that he learnt how to keep the speed going from the steep and across the flat to the finish. Ligety took his fourth win in Soelden making him the most successful racer of all time at the Austrian Glacier ahead of Thomas Fanara with Hirscher in third. It was a fascinating race watched by over 34,000 people!
