Snowsport England is delighted to announce a new Athlete Bursary scheme for Alpine athletes currently following the Snowsport England athlete pathway. ...Â
In total there will be 11 Alpine athletes awarded the bursary which runs for a two year period. The gender split is based on the register of English FIS athletes and the athletes are selected based on their continued performance and their clear long-term commitment to the sport.
In order to qualify for the bursary athletes must have completed at least 1 year in FIS category racing in at least two disciplines and have a committed programme for the coming season (this will also be a criteria for 2nd year).
The programme is focussed on athletes who are and have been in the England Alpine Squad following the athlete pathway. Priority is given to senior athletes.
The bursary is jointly funded by Endsleigh Insurance and the Alpine Ski Team fund. Athletes who are chosen to receive a Talented Athlete Alpine Bursary will be notified by Friday 15th August.
CEO Tim Fawke commented: “We are delighted to grant these bursaries to our up and coming Alpine athletes with the support of Endsleigh Insurance Brokers. The decision to commit this for a minimum of two years for each bursary demonstrates an understanding of the commitment the athletes are making to their sport.”
