Iain Innes won the first race and then Zak Vinter took the win in the Championship race at the English Children's Super G races in Bormio. As with ... the race for the overall win, Dawid Kotwica and Callum Pitkethley swapped positions for the final place on the podium with Pitkethley coming out on top in the Championship race.
The boys had to contend with worse weather than the girls and the later runners had to build themselves up a number of times as the weather Gods refused to play ball and let the race run smoothly. A number of times the first race was stopped as the cloud came in thick and fast. With it looking at one stage as if there would only be one race, good cooperation between the race organisers and the racers themselves plus the coaches saw the second run get off with only a few minor hitches for the heavy snow falling and subsequent cloud.
While Dawid Kotwica was the surprise on the first race, starting 91 and finishing on the podium, his earlier start on the second race hardly slowed him down but Pitkethley raised his game to take the final place on the podium. Angus Wills made it five different clubs represented in the first five racers home in both races.
Kristofer Berglindarson was the best of the Under 14 racers in both races, taking sixth overall in both; am impressive performance considering he started 22 in both races. Alasdair Sandland took second in the first race with George Case taking third, joint 17th, from being last down the heavily rutted and soft course. In the second race, the podium spoils went to Harry Deighton and Matthew Heginbotham. Sandland placed fourth and Case sixth just behind Charlie Luke.
