Word gets around when there are good races on and the second of the two Night Slaloms put on as part of the Anglo Scottish / BSA Grand Prix races saw Natalie Beattie show the rest of the British girls the way home as she took third place overall. Rachelle Rogers ... put in a strong performance to take fifth overall and Natalia Harte stormed down to take third amongst the British racers and seventh overall or her best slalom score of the season so far. Cara Brown was next best for the British, slightly disappointed with her result as it was just outside what she needed to improve her FIS points while Kirsty Guest, younger sister of Delancey British Team member, Charlie Guest, scored her first sub 100 point result in her first season of FIS racing - impressive stuff.
In the boys race Michael Ankeny made it two wins in two days for the Americans but it was Ashley Breese who posted the best time of the British racers just ahead of Robert Poth. Breese was pleased with putting two results down but knows that there is still a lot more in him as he chases his training partner, Ross Peraudo from Australia. Poth was second last down the first run, and this after all the girls had skied that course as well, and stormed into a new best FIS point result for him 74.72! Poth has been training with the EDEP set up that Aktiv Racing have joined and their support for the youngster from Potters Bar is long term and paying dividends. George Davis was the third best Brit and another happy racer as he scored a result.
Once again the determination of the race organisers to get the race running was helped by the foreign coaches picking up shovels and rakes to keep the course in a good shape. With the second run, set by Martin Harte, being used as the first run of the men's race, the fact that Poth was able to attack the course with hope of making a result, is testament to the hard work put in by those on the course.
