James 'Woodsy' Woods took silver in today's Ski Slopestyle final at the FIS Freestyle World Cup in Cardrona, New Zealand. This follows on from Jenny Jones' second place in the Snowboard Slopestyle earlier in the week. ...Â
Twenty one year old Woodsy pulled off an impressive first run which could have sealed a win, but Nicholas Goepper from the USA stepped up his game on the second run and took top spot.
Pat Sharples, Head Coach of the GBFreeski team said after the competition: “It has been a really great start for both the GBFreeski and GB Freestyle Snowboard teams with solid performances in the first World Cup of the season. I am delighted with Woodsy's silver which followed on nicely from Jenny Jones' second place. I am also stoked to have one of my young up and coming girls Anna Vincenti make the finals in her first ever World Cup, and the future is looking bright for Tyler Harding who at just 16 is showing he could well be the next big thing.”
Tyler Harding finished 26th out of a field of 82 in the Ski Slopestyle competition and Anna Vincenti made the final eight of the Women's Ski Slopestyle but could not compete in the final due to an injury sustained in the practice session. She is expected to make a full quick recovery.
