3Tre brings new light to the Canalone Miramonti

The 3Tre is looking to the future with a new light as preparations continue for Wednesday, December 23, when the Canalone Miramonti slope will host the 73rd edition of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Night Slalom in Madonna di Campiglio.

The traditional FIS summer inspection, held on Wednesday, July 8, marks a key milestone each year in the countdown to the event. This year's visit also presented the ideal opportunity to unveil a significant new development which will be ready in time for December's edition of the iconic night slalom.

Alongside the usual technical and organizational meetings, the FIS delegation visiting Madonna di Campiglio – including Men's World Cup Chief Race Director Markus Waldner, Technical Events Race Director Janez Hladnik, and Massimo Rinaldi, who was representing the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) – was presented with the details of the new lighting system for the Canalone Miramonti. This project has been financially supported by all of the member organizations of the 3Tre Committee.

Scheduled for completion during the summer months, in time for the night slalom on December 23 (first run at 5.45 pm, second run at 8.45 pm CET), the relamping project represents a major strategic investment for the event, Madonna di Campiglio, and the entire ski area.

The existing lighting system along the Canalone Miramonti slope is to be completely replaced with 290 high-efficiency ALO3 LED floodlights. These will deliver superior light quality, significantly reduced maintenance requirements, and full compliance with the latest international television broadcasting standards.

The new system is equipped with digitally controlled drivers that can be managed remotely from the technical control room. It has been designed to ensure maximum reliability during major sporting events, enhancing both race conditions and the spectator experience.

The project will also introduce new opportunities fo rdynamic lighting within the ski stadium by installing 30 LED floodlights with adjustable colour and light intensity. This will enable the creation of customised lighting scenarios for ceremonies and entertainment events.
