VÖLKL PRESENTS THE NEW eVÖLKL LINE THE WORLD’S FIRST SOLAR-POWERED TOURING SKI

The well-known German ski brand presents, after years of technical development and right on time for its 100th anniversary, the first electric touring ski powered by solar energy, the eVölkl-01.

"The electrification trend does not stop at the bottom of the ski slope. We want to allow all skiers to enjoy both uphill and downhill adventures, no matter their experience or fitness level – of course with renewable, sustainable solar energy,“ says Andel Ampere, head of engineering for the newly-founded electric skis development department.

This revolutionary model is made in Germany and represents yet another ground-breaking innovation from the Bavarian supplier.

The eVölkl-01 comes with a range of approximately 4223 vertical feet in elevation gain, depending on the pitch and quality of the snow surface. The easy clip-on solution for the climbing track allows the eVölkl-01 to quickly convert to a precise, high-performance alpine ski for the descent. With its integrated solar panels, the built-in battery usually gets a full charge on sunny days. In the unlikely case that there is no sunlight, the ski can be fully charged with a wireless charger (sold separately) within roughly two hours.

Test riders from BMHV-03 institute, under the supervision of Dr. Jakob have successfully validated and offered important development insights for this innovative design. According to Mr. Ampere, „We are at the beginning of a revolutionary development in ski design.“

Production and sales are set for the first of April every year. The price of the eVölkl-01 will be released at a later time.
