20-year-old Calum Langmuir will join fellow Briton Charlie Raposo on the Roc de Fer piste in tomorrow’s Men’s Giant Slalom World Championships, after an excellent seventh position the qualification round earlier today.
Langmuir, from the Scottish Highlands, finished only 0.74 seconds off the leader Benjamin Szollos of Israel, over two runs.
Popular figure on the World Cup tour, Albert Popov, mainly known for his slalom skiing, was just 0.41 seconds ahead of Langmuir over the two legs.
With the snow conditions in Meribel being soft, and the young star starting with bib number 52 - the Brit is likely to experience ruts on his run, but he will be used to these conditions from starting his skiing career on the Cairngorm Mountain.
This will be his second competition of the World Championships in Courchevel after his 38th position in the Super G event last week, a strong performance which he will only look to build on tomorrow.
With a finish already under his belt down a tough track, we can expect to see the young star push harder this time round.
At 14-years-old, Langmuir moved to Burke Mountain Ski Academy in Vermont in the United States, and has progressed magnificently. He currently trains with the Cliff Racing programme after spending time in Norway.
Prior to these games, he finished 17th in the World Junior Super G Championships.
The event kicks off at 9am and will be live on BBC Red Button, BBC iPlayer and Eurosport.
