Perfect conditions for the National Junior Championship Giant Slalom race at the English Alpine Championships saw Honor Bartlett take fifth overall and Charlotte Holmes finish in sixth in a competitive field in Bormio. Maisie Blyth was third British racer finishing in 17th.
This was a fantastic performance by Bartlett as she scored a career best result in terms of her FIS points, scoring a 64.29 result as she finished 5th overall. This was comfortably Bartlett's best GS result as her previous best was a 76 point result also scored in Bormio, the day before!
Holmes has had a troubled season that was blighted by injury just prior to the European Youth Olympics that deprived her of competing at the prestigious event. What better way to show the Federation how she was skiing! like Bartlett, this was a career best result in Giant Slalom, 73.41 FIS points. Her second run really clicked for her as he posted the 4th fastest time.
Holmes moved up from 14th to 6th with her attacking second run. Bartlett moved up from fifth to fourth with her run.
The race was won by Martina Banchi from Italy.
