George Black produced the goods to come from 22nd on the start list to finish in third after the end of the race at the English Alpine Junior Champion ships Giant Slalom. This was the first time that Black has stood on a FIS podium and what better place to do it than at the English Alpine Championships!
When one of your friends and compatriots scores a result, it can spur you on to try and achieve the same. In the first race at the the English Alpine Championships, Lucas Ellis scored a second place from bib 39 and Black will have been spurred on by this.
Black was third out o the British racers after the first run but produced a stunning run on run two to overtake both Lucas Ellis and Aidan Urquhart, who dropped to 11th and 7th respectively. Finishing third was just reward for the third fastest run on the second run by the Ambition racer.
The perfect conditions for many of the later runners meant that this was a great race for many of the later runners as well as the early runners, 32 racers scored under 100 FIS points!
Like Honor Bartlett and Charlotte Holmes in the women's race, this was also a career best result for Black, scoring 47.80 FIS points!
