Opening of the new World Cup Alpine Skiing season

On 28 & 29 October, the traditional opening heats of the Alpine Skiing World Cup will be held in Sölden, Austria.The French selection for this event includes two athletes from the Club des Sports Courchevel: Alexis Pinturault, holder of a new world champion title won at home, here in Courchevel this year, and Diego Orecchioni, 3 World Cup starts, the first of which came just over a year ago at this same event in Sölden.

The Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup is returning to Courchevel

An essential stage of the women's circuit, Courchevel is confirming its status as an Alpine skiing stronghold by hosting a stage of the Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup for the thirteenth time. And to celebrate the return of these ladies to the Emile-Allais stadium on 21 December 2023, the Alpine skiing participants will be under the spotlight to compete in a night-time slalom! In these new racing conditions, who will succeed Sara Hector and Mikaela Shiffrin, the last winners in Courchevel, and don the traditional helmet created by artist David Cintract?

Programme – Thursday 21 December 2023 – Emile-Allais Stadium

From 4pm: Event village and activities in the finish zone

5.45pm: Audi FIS Women’s Slalom (SL) World Cup, 1st heat in the Emile Allais Stadium

8.45pm Audi FIS Women’s Slalom (SL) World Cup, 2nd heat in the Emile Allais Stadium

9.30pm: Flower ceremony in the finish zone, DJ party and fireworks

This year, the press room will be in the Salle de la Croisette, about 200 metres from the Emile-Allais stadium.

The press room opening times will be as follows:

Tuesday 19/12: 9am – 7pm

Wednesday 20/12: 9am – 8pm

Thursday 21/12: 9am – midnight

Courchevel’s athletes in the French teams

The French Alpine skiing teams include a number of athletes from Courchevel Sports Club.

In the women’s team there is of course Marie Lamure, but also Clarisse Brèche and Doriane Escané. These two young women, who are both making their progressive return to competition following injuries sustained during the 2022-2023 season, are more determined than ever and have their hearts set on flying the colours of Club des Sports Courchevel.

Alizée Dahon and Paola Orecchioni are in the ‘Relève’ group.

Among the men, Alexis Pinturault is once again to lead the delegation from Courchevel. He’ll be joined in Team France by Steven Amiez.

Alban Elezi Cannaferina, world champion in junior giant slalom and world Alpine runner-up, and Diego Orecchioni and Louis Tuaire, each have a place in the ‘Relève’ group.
