Thomas Dressen has burst onto the World Cup this year with a podium in Beaver Creek and then taking one of the biggest races of the season, the Kitzbuehel Downhill. There is a saying that if you come third, no one remembers you, if you come second, no one remembers you but if you win, you are remembered for life. Dressen rode his luck in terms of the light coming out for his run to post a time two-tenths faster than Beat Feuz with Hannes Reichelt in third. In a thrilling race Vincent Kriechmayr was fourth and Marc Gisin taking a shock fifth.
