Evolution report back from their training camp in Chile

U16 and FIS athletes on the Team Evolution Programme are making the most of the fantastic conditions in the Southern Hemisphere as part of the 6 week training camp in Chile.

The camp is in full flow with training running in El Colorado and La Parva, just a few hours north of Santiago, and the winter weather has meant plenty of opportunities for athletes to train tech and speed alongside the National Teams that are currently training in South America.

The camp, which is primarily focused around high volume training blocks instead of summer racing, has given the U16 athletes the chance to give the FIS athletes a run for their money although in the end the older athletes have all shown their class on the challenging slopes.

British Champion Honor Clissold has benefited from a range of equipment testing alongside a range of quality athletes from other National teams and preparing for next years EC Tour, while fellow 2017 British Champion Leo Karavasili and Spanish athlete Silvia Villa - both of whom have recently joined the Team Evolution Programme - have been making huge steps forwards in their technical understanding.

Jack Cunningham, Tom Butterworth and Seamus OBrien have also been making others sit up and take notice of their performances while in South America, consistently achieving times ahead of some of the US and Canadas best U16 racers in joint training sessions, and training alongside WC skiers like Henrik Von Appen and an Italian contingent of GS skiers. While the young British skiers performances have been enough to make the North Americans take notice, Cunningham told us that they "need to keep working hard and doing better to be ready for FIS."

Team Evolution U18 skiers Dexter Lee & Lois Jackson will also use the camp as an opportunity to chip away at their FIS point in the early season races that are continuing to become more and more popular with British skiers looking for early season races.
