Ferstl wins in Val Gardena as weather disrupts the race

Josef ‘Pepi’ Ferstl became the first German since 2004 to win a World Cup speed race and the first since 1991 to win a World Cup Super G as he edged out Austrians Max Franz by 0.02 and Matthias Mayer by 0.10. With the weather playing a majorly disruptive roll in the proceedings, this was something that Ferstl acknowledged but did not concern him as he took the race win. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and Vincent Kriechmayr rounded out the top five. With only 38 racers starting this was beyond the minimum 30 that are required to start the race for it to count for the World Cup.
