When Bode Miller announced his retirement from ski racing in May 2015, the world of ski racing saw one of the major global superstars leave the sport. Injury had robbed the sport of a racer that pushed the boundaries in pursuit of beating the mountain. Miller always said that he had respect for racers that managed to go faster than him down a course. When he came back to race at the World Championships in Vail Beaver Creak in February2015, this gave the Championships unrivalled exposure. When he crashed in the Super G, he left a gaping void in the excitement of the Championships.
