The drama went all the way to the last racer of the last regular season World Cup race as Alexis Pinturault had posted a supreme time for his two runs and only Marcel Hirscher could prevent him from winning his fifth World Cup Giant Slalom in a row. Henrik Kristoffersen had tried his hardest to keep the race for the Overall alive but with realistic hopes of scoring points in only three races left of the season, Hirscher's win results in his 17th podium of the season, his 7th season win, his 38th career win, and even more important, his 10th World Cup globe!
