British Ski and Snowboard announce New Chair of Alpine, Speed and Telemark Committee

British Ski and Snowboard (BSS) have announced that Tony Trayner has been elected as the new Chair of the Alpine, Speed and Telemark Committee. ... 

In the recent election, 96 votes of the total possible 307 were cast (31%) with Tony Trayner receiving 58 (equivalent to 60% of votes cast) and Adrian Pery receiving 38 (equivalent to 40% of vote cast).

Tony will therefore be taking up the position of Chair of the Discipline committee with immediate effect and has been asked by the BSS Board to serve as a Director of the Company beginning today with an initial term ending at the Company Annual General Meeting in September 2018.

Adrian Pery, who has chaired the Committee on an interim basis, will resume his role as Vice Chair of the Alpine, Speed and Telemark Committee.  The Board has expressed their sincere gratitude to Adrian for the work that he has carried out over the last twelve months during this period of transition.

Tony Trayner has been involved in British snowsports for over 40 years, and brings extensive experience from all areas of the sport including time as a director of Snowsport Scotland, organiser of the Scottish Alpine Championships and other snowsports events and experience in the professional world outside of snowsports, as a Chairman, CEO and Director of several companies.

Commenting on his new appointment Tony said “ I am delighted to be able to help British Ski and Snowboard and British Alpine, Speed and Telemark athletes and will work now through the Committee and Board to attempt to put in place the pathways, programmes and events that our athletes want to be part of.  I look forward to the challenge of my term in office.”

Chief Executive of BSS Dave Edwards said: “We are delighted to announce the new Chair of the Alpine, Speed and Telemark committee. Tony has a strong business and snowsports background and will be an ideal candidate to drive things forward for these three disciplines. We look forward to welcoming Tony onto the Board.”

The BSS Board is unanimous in their thanks to Tony and Adrian for their willingness to volunteer their own time and energy to help in the successful management of elite British snowsports.
