Delancey British Alpine National Champs, The BRITS and Freestyle Junior World Champs kick off this weekend

The snowsports action continues, with three more major competitions starting this weekend - the Delancey British National Alpine Championships, the BRITS and the Junior Freestyle World Championships.  ...

Sunday sees the action begin at the Delancey British National Alpine Championships in Tignes, featuring the best of British Alpine skiers, including big names such as two time Olympian Dave Ryding and World Cup competitors Charlie Guest and Alex Tilley.  The series kicks off with the Super G on Sunday. . Also in Tignes, the British Snowboard and Freeski Championships (The BRITS) come to town on Sunday, with the first competition on Monday being the Ski Cross, and Snowboard Bangers and Cash Rails. GB Park and Pipe athletes competing include snowboarders Lewis Courtier Jones, Jamie Trinder, Henry Shackleton and Matt McCormick. And for the skiers, Tyler Harding and Sochi Olympian Murray Buchan will both be in action. A full schedule can be found on www.the-brits.com

Competition begins at the FIS Junior Freestyle World Ski Championships on Sunday in Valmalenco, Italy, with Great Britain taking a 16 strong squad, including in Ski Cross, Scott Garvie (18, Aberdeenshire), Laurence Willows (18, Kent), Sam Allen (20, Warwickshire), Will Wheeler (17, Hampshire) and Emma Peters (17, Sunderland).

In form Lloyd Wallace (20, Wiltshire) will be joined by sister Elodie Wallace (17, Wiltshire) to compete in Aerials. And in Moguls, Will Feneley (15, Norfolk), Sam Houston (18, Rotherham) and Liam Keyes (19, Derbyshire) will battle it out in the men's competition.

Molly Summerhayes (17, Sheffield) and Madi Rowlands (14, Kent) will compete in both the Ski Halfpipe and Ski Slopestyle. The other Ski Slopestyle competitors are Cal Sandieson (16, Glasgow), Mike Rowlands (17, Kent), Chris McCormick (Glasgow) and Monty Wright (17, Kent). 

For the British Snowboard Cross Team, they will be competing in the Europa Cup in Lenk, Switzerland from today through to Sunday.

Jaz Taylor is competing in the Telemark World Cup in Rjukan in Norway. After a 7th place in yesterday's Classic, she will compete in the Sprint today, and Parallel Sprint tomorrow.

There was a great result from Delancey British Alpine Ski Team athlete Jack Gower this week in the States. Gower secured a fantastic result at the US and Canadian National Championships in Sugarloaf, USA, where he finished 4th overall in the Men's Downhill and  took the top spot on the podium as 1st Junior.

Jack earned his best ever FIS point DH result which will see his world ranking drop again this season from the already strong results in December. By the end of the season it may see him ranked inside the top 5 in the world for his age in Downhill.
