In a high quality field that included many World Cup stars, Britain's Nick Moynihan posted a career best FIS point result as he placed 13th in the Argentinain Giant Slalom National Championship race. Moynihan finished just ... 1.30 seconds off Swiss star Justin Murisier with Austrian Philipp Schoerghofer taking second and Matteo Marsaglia in third.
Moynihan posted on Twitter after the race 'Started as well as it finished.. A perfect sunrise to wake up to followed by my best race result to date.' Moynihan made great use of the second run start spot as he was right in the mix time wise with the leading racers from the first run.
Despite a disappointing South American Cup race the day before (he scored 42 points in finishing 19th), Moynihan has had a promising run of results from his racing down in South America with two other twenty point results: a 23 in slalom and a 25 in Giant Slalom to add to this career best 20 point result.
Moynihan is part of the Delancey British Alpine Ski Team and with fellow team members Jack Gower and Charlie Raposo also scoring in this area, the future shows promise for these British racers. Moynihan won his first Senior British title last season when he won the Super Combined in Meribel.
