With most of the summer series in the summer suffering a downturn in numbers attending, the British Indoor Grand Prix Series with support from C-Tec (the head sponsors for David Ryding), Salomon and others, has proved that it is the leading series: It has been attracting some of the top racers that are willing to put their reputations on the line. Some of the established talent of the British Under 18 team including Robert Poth and Euan Kick have all shown just what the younger racers need to do to reach the standard that they are at at the moment. More of the rising talent in the UK would have been at the races but for training camps.
Poth was edged out for the series win by Trebilcock but he will be back in the future and will take the series win. trouble on his journey up north to Castleford did not seem to worry him and his smooth and quick feet enabled him to put in a lead after the first run that meant the rest had work to do. Henderson got close on the second run as did Daniel Poth with Trebilcock losing a little time on the second run. With no Georgie Hunt in the race due to other commitments, Poth was the class act in the field.
Oliver Weeks won the Under 14 age group with Declan Huppach taking the Under 16 age group despite starting near the back of the field as a late entry. Poth took the Under 18 age group with his older brother taking the Under 21. Henderson took the Senior Age Group with Alex Molliex taking the Master's age group despite a second run charge by late entry Claude Farren.
Three racers proved that despite starting near the back on the first run, they proved that they could still mix it with the top seeds: Brandon Matthews (started 50), Rory Farren (52) and Declan Huppach (54) all finished in the top ten with Farren the pick of the bunch with fifth place just behind Daniel Poth.
Poth took the win while Trebilcock took the series win.
