Tilley opens up the new season with a Slalom win

British Ski Team member, Alex Tilley started her 2013 - 14 Olympic season off with a commanding win in the opening slalom in Treble Cone on Tuesday. Tilley was fastest in both runs to win overall by 1.30 seconds from American April Dunlevy and Austrian Kathrin Resch. Talking after the race her coach, Stefan Moser, was clearly delighted that his athlete had started the new season off with a win announcing on Facebook "the gongshow has just begun...first victory of the season."

Tilley has now won her last three races that she has finished after winning the National and Junior Giant Slalom Titles in Meribel at the end of last season.

The race also saw a number of other British and Irish racers competing: Cara Brown and Issy Kirk finished 13th and 15th in the modest field. Charlie Guest and the two Bell sisters from Ireland failed to finish.

Many of the British men, including rising talent Laurie Taylor failed to finish the men's race. Sam Todd Saunders placed 18th from a start number of 70 to score a career best FIS point result in Slalom to date.
