Emma Peters held off the determined charge from Nia Jenkins to take the win in the girls race in Castleford. Having lead after the first run, Norfolk's Jenkins, attacked the second run and with her fast time, fastest of the girls, she would have placed just outside the top ten in the Men's race! While Peters held on to win the race by just under a quarter of a second, Rachel Ferrier took third three quarters of a second off the win. Ella O'Neill and Honor Clissold rounded out the top five.
The youngest age group, the under 14's was won by Kirsten Walton (7th overall) ahead of Georgia Pexton (8th overall) with Victoria McKinlay in her first race in the series taking third.
Lucy Pirkhoffer took the under 16 age group win with ninth place overall, Katy Jackson took second in the age group, a place behind Pirkhoffer with Eleanor Parker in third. Parker just held on to beat Grace Neasham after they were only be separated by a mere hundredth after the first run.
With Peters taking the under 18 age group ahead of Ferrier, Ella O'Neill took third. Nia Jenkins took the under 21 age group ahead of Maria Hall while Judy Reid took the Masters age group ahead of Cathy Beck and Holl McCarthy.
