Jansrud's season ends in Schladming; Vonn improves

Popular and exciting Norwegian racer, Kjetil Jansrud, has seen his season end prematurely after suffering an ACL injury to his right knee in the Super G in Schladming. Near the top of the course, Jansrud over rotated and then slide on his side. When he came to a halt he was clutching his knee and rapidly took his ski off. After visiting the Hospital in Schladming, it was announced that he had torn his ACL. Jansrud posted on Twitter that "I'm overwhelmed by all your nice words, it helps a lot. Thank you. World Champs are over for me due to a torn ACL. #sad" Jansrud then followed this up with "However. Looking at the bright side, I now get a head start on everyone for Sochi.. Tomorrow is the first day of the next season."

With Lindsey Vonn recovering, she has released a press statement through the US Ski Team: "First off I want to say thank you to the amazing medical staff that cared for me. I plan on returning to Vail as soon as I can to have the necessary surgeries.   I am also grateful to my fans for the outpouring of support, which has really helped me stay positive.  I can assure you that I will work as hard as humanly possible to be ready to represent my country next year in Sochi."
