The new rankings for the GB Bobsleigh crews have been announced (Nov 26) and the rankings make great reading for the crews:
World Cup       GBR Men 4th   GBR Women 6th
Europa Cup     GBR Men 6th   GBR Women 4th
Americas Cup   GBR Men 6th    GBR Women 1st
GB Bobsleigh Performance Director, Gary Anderson, knows that these make great reading but believes "the exciting thing is there is so much more to come!" After the latest round of races Anderson added: "Our early season performance across the board have been exactly what we required in this important pre-Olympic season, our top crews are putting themselves in contention Paula Walker and John Jackson as pilots are showing that they are capable of producing world class drives. Our brakeman are continuing to make huge gains. I asked all our athletes to "step-up" and they have done so, but this is just a start and there is still a way to go but the performance trajectory is as planned. We all know, athletes and staff, what is required for Sochi 2014."
Following on from the weekend's results John Jackson said 'We knew we had improved as a team over the summer, but I think we have even surprised ourselves at where and how well we have started the season. The team are on a high and the first three races have given us all a massive boost of confidence coming back into the European leg of the tour.'
Stu Benson, the GBR 1 brakeman added "I am over the moon! So is everyone, the response has been crazy! What is scary is that how much more there is for us to get right. I mean, the support and structure of training and staff around us means we just train, and pushing fast is becoming a bit like "expert induced amnesia" to quote Syed!"
