Andrew Morgan, Kandahar President

Andrew Morgan, an Honorary Member of the Kandahar Ski Club, sadly passed away on Saturday 6 June 2026, following a stroke in May. He died peacefully at his Gloucestershire home surrounded by his family at the age of 92.

Andrew played a huge part in the Club – a former President, Chairman and Treasurer. Andew was the first British athlete to ski in three Winter Olympic games; 1956, 1960 and 1964. He was British Langlauf champion in 1956 and 1957. He converted to downhill skiing in the late 1960s, joined the Club in 1970 and in 1973 was the fastest British skier in the Inferno. He met his wife, Karen, in January 1986 in the Tächi Bar at the Eiger Hotel; they were married for 38 years. I will certainly miss seeing him in the Eiger every year during Inferno week.

Andrew had a huge passion for our Club and a benevolent influence over its affairs for over 50 years. He was also an outstanding ski historian who shared his vast knowledge generously. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends in the skiing fraternity.

A more complete obituary can be read on the Club’s website.
