It was not the advert for ski racing that the World wanted but a re-run Super G leg after three racers and two of the forerunners had failed to make the course allowed Ilka Stuhec to take the lead before Federica Brignone stormed through to win. Crashes are all part and parcel of outdoor sport but when the snow was deemed too soft for some of the big names of the sport, Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin to feel it was safe enough to race, something had to give. While the record books will show that Brignone won from Stuhec with Michaela Kirchagasser in third, the injury to Denise Feierabend upset many race fans.
