It has been a few years since Britain has had a racer to cheer on the World Cup tour in the speed events. Dougie Crawford, TJ Baldwin and Ed Drake tried to fill the gap since the retirement of Finlay Mickel in 2009. Lake Louise in 2017 will see a new name added to the list of British racers that have competed on the World Cup tour in Downhill and Super G - Jack Gower. Those involved in competitive ski racing will know the talent that Gower has and many have wanted to see him cut his teeth on the World Cup Tour earlier but Gower has held back until he felt he could challenge for World Cup points - he did not want to be there to make up the numbers.
