Max Franz stopped a 13 race winless streak in World Cup downhills for Austria when he won the Val Gardena downhill. Franz beat Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal by 0.04 seconds with USA’s Steven Nyman in third. The last Austrian to win a World Cup downhill was Hannes Reichelt on the 7th March 2015 in Kvitfell, Norway.
